What is a Fical Officer?
Since 2015, the State of Ohio has required special licensure for individuals responsible for the management and oversight of public funds. To obtain and maintain this licensure, professionals must complete robust training requirements, pass an examination, and maintain continuing education requirements. The purpose of these requirements is to deter accounting errors and fraud within the state.
TES currently employs three licensed and bonded Fiscal Officers. Our staff holds 5-year School Treasurer licenses through the Ohio Department of Education.
The skills and traits utilized by licensed fiscal officers are applicable to all school treasures regardless of their jurisdiction and these skills benefit all charter school customers.
Beyond the Traditional Fiscal Officer
Traditional Fiscal Officers are responsible for financial oversight. Their purpose is to monitor compliance and alert the appropriate parties of a potential or known breach. TES extended these services much further, supporting the establishment of an organized financial department that uses industry-standard best practices. Our goal is to make life easier for all stakeholders by simplifying systems and providing clear-cut, easy-to-understand reporting. We also partner with school leaders to strategically manager their funds to make their long-term dreams a reality.
